Celebrate Record Store Day At These 5 Tampa Bay Stores

We're counting down the minutes until Record Store Day 2024. The annual celebration of independent record stores happens every year in April. This year, a lot of awesome albums are a part of the special release. If you need a place to celebrate, we recommend checking out one of these 5 record stores in the Tampa Bay area.

Keep in mind that this is a pretty big deal for a lot of people, so you may find lines wrapped around the building depending on what time you go. It's also a possibility that the album you're looking for may be gone.

The list of albums being released for Record Store Day dropped in February. Stores have to have their orders/requests in by the first week of March. Because of limited supply, many of these local record stores are following a "first come, first served" system. Per the Record Store Day pledge, these stores are not allowed to reserve, hold, or flip RSD releases.

There are a few releases this year that are going to be a hot commodity. Albums and repressing's from Noah Kahan, the Weeknd, Paramore, Talking Heads, the Beatles, and Bowie are some of the most wanted.

Record Store Day started in 2008 as a way to celebrate and spread the word about independent record stores. Special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day.

A lot of stores are going all out for Record Store Day 2024! These places will be offering food trucks, RSD merch, and more. Mojo Books & Records is located by USF on 2554 E. Fowler Ave, Tampa. They have room for more albums after moving to a bigger store earlier last year. Mojo will be opening at 8a on 4/20, so make sure you get there early! Find more info here.

Microgroove will only have approx 50-70 RSD titles. RSD releases will be limited to one title per person. You can buy as many different releases as you like, just one copy of each title. More info on Microgroove here.

Located at 708 W Dr M.L.K. Jr Blvd. They are listed as a participating store for Record Store Day, but they do not have their inventory posted on their website or social media. If you're looking for a specific album, we recommend calling the store to see if they'll have it!

Located at 2887 22ns Ave N, St. Pete. Banana's Records is going all out for Record Store Day 2024. They'll have a DJ kick off the day at 9a, beer by New Belgium, giveaways, and more! Click here to visit their website.

Daddy Kool Records is probably one of the most well-known record stores in the Tampa Bay area. So expect A LOT of people to show up here for deals. Last year, it looked like the line for RSD releases started the night before, so if you have a lot of wants on your list, either get there early, or choose a different store. Two locations to check out! The Sound Exchange will have some cool RSD freebies while supplies last. They don't have their inventory posted on their website or social media, so call the stores and ask if they have what you're looking for.
