For as long as I can remember, the Fourth of July has always been my favorite holiday. It is uniquely different than every other American holiday sure it is a celebration recognizing our countries freedom from English rule wayback in 1776. But it has grown to be so much more in American culture.

Not only does Independence Day recognize our country’s history, it’s become a day for many people to celebrate the individual  freedoms they enjoy today. So… What makes Independence Day my favorite holiday?  For starters, it is the casualness of the day.  Let face it, the winter holiday season is great, but it’s a little too formal for my taste. Tanks tops and bathing suits are the uniform for the day on July 4th.

The greatest freedom that I celebrate on the Fourth of July is the freedom to stand by my grill all day cooking barbecue masterpieces. That brings me to the next reason why the Fourth of July is my favorite holiday, the grill, the totally relaxed picnic vibe that the Fourth of July offers is unparalleled by any other holiday. and while I’ve never particularly cared for fireworks around New Year’s eve. I always enjoy fireworks the Fourth of July. Independence Day stands alone as a truly special American holiday in so many ways.

So let’s get back to that grill, below I have assembled a list of some of my favorite things to cook on my grill on the Fourth of July and really any weekend over the summer. Enjoy
