I'm getting too old for coasters... but unfortunately that doesn't stop me. I love them. I feel every bit of my age halfway through the ride, but I don't care.
Living in Florida, we have the best of the best coasters. With Busch Gardens in our backyard, we are pretty lucky. With Iron Gwazi opening soon, this list could change. But strap in and bring the bar down. Time to ride.
#1: Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
My taste in coasters changes from time to time, but for the past 20 or so years, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster has been my favorite. Never ride this one with me. I can't help but narrate word for word the entire pre-ride studio skit with the band.
#2: Cheetah Hunt at Busch Gardens
I love how smooth this ride is. It goes fast and twists you around but it's so well-designed that you don't get that sickness like you get from the herky jerky coasters.
#3: Rip Ride Rockit at Universal Orlando
The thing I love about this coaster is how they blast music from your headrest through the ride. They give you a couple songs in each genre to choose from. But RRR really became one of my favorites when I learned that you can access a "secret menu" of songs if you scour the internet.
#4: Sheikra
Another smooth coaster that still thrills. I like that the wait is usually short for this one!
#5: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom
The wait is usually long, but this one's fun. I thought it'd be a kids' ride but it's got some serious twists and turns.
#6: Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom
Yeah it's herky jerky. Yeah it's old. Yeah I barely fit in the cars, but it's a legend.
#7: The Incredible Hulk Coaster at Universal Orlando
I still haven't had a chance to ride since the renovations, but I especially like the decor as you wait.
#8: Tigris at Busch Gardens
I was lucky enough to be one of the first to take this baby for a test drive. Unfortunately they were recording audio of my whimpers that somehow ended up on Q105.
#9: Slinky Dog Dash at Hollywood Studios
Another one I dismissed as a kids ride before I finally rode it. I've never even seen Toy Story, but I love the sound effects as you pass through the "yard."
#10: Cobra's Curse at Busch Gardens
It's such a strange coaster... the spinning around, the elevator ride. I just like how unique this one is.
