Hillsborough County’s Most Dangerous Intersections

A list of Hillsborough County’s most dangerous intersections is out. The list is compiled from All for Transportation, which is based on the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office data.

All for Transportation was looking to get a 1% transportation tax referendum on the November ballot this year. A Hillsborough County circuit court judge rejected the tax hike saying, ”It misleads the public.”

Through the proposed 1% tax hike the group said they will “Build and widen roads. Fix roads and bridges. Expand public transit options. Fix potholes. Enhance bus services. Improve intersections. Make walking and biking safer.”

Four of Hillsborough County’s most dangerous intersections are located in Riverview. The data listed below is from June 2021 to September 2022.

10 Bill Tucker Road And U.S. 301

This is in Wimauma and has seen 66 crashes and 9 serious injuries/deaths.

9 County Line Road And U.S. 41

There have been 76 crashes and 10 serious injuries/deaths at this intersection.

8 Big Bend Road And Summerfield Crossing Boulevard

Finally, the fourth intersection in Riverview. 92 crashes and 11 serious injuries/deaths.

7 Big Bend Road At Summerfield Boulevard

The third intersection in Riverview that is in the Top 10. 97 crashes and 14 serious injuries/deaths.

6 Fishhawk Boulevard And Boyette Road

In Lithia has has seen 104 crashes and 10 serious injuries/deaths.

5 Lakewood Drive And E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard

In Mango just east of I-75. 113 crashes and 10 serious injuries/deaths.

4 N. Florida Avenue And E. Waters Avenue

This is in Tampa just west of I-275. 176 crashes and 9 serious injuries/deaths.

3 U.S. 301 At State Road 674

This is in Wimauma and has had 207 crashes and 17 serious injuries/deaths at that intersection.

2 U.S. 301 At Big Bend Road

#2 in Riverview. 332 crashes and 14 serious injuries/deaths.

1 U.S. 301 At Gibsonton Drive

This intersection is the first of four in Riverview. 367 crashes and 13 serious injuries/deaths have occurred there.
