As we head toward the summer travel season, we many trips have already been booked. Based on flight itineraries, we now know the top ‘Summer 2022 Travel Destinations’.

Allianz Partners looked at over a million plans for trips and compiled a list of the top destinations, both domestic and international. It’s no surprise to see Orlando leading the way as people return to traveling.

Orlando is home to many of the top theme parks, plus it’s in the center of Florida where it’s easy to get travel to the beaches. Internationally, Cancun, Mexico led the way for top travel destinations.

Here are the top 5 of each, based on the lists from Allianz Partners:

  • Domestic destination #5: Boston, Massachusetts

Home to some of the most historic American sites. You can still take a walking tour of the city and enjoy the foods, history and sights.

  • Domestic destination #4: Kahului, Maui, Hawai'i

Maui, Hawai’i, is a destination that needs to be on anyone’s list of places to visit.

  • Domestic destination #3: Honolulu, Hawai'i

For the same reasons to visit Kahului, Honolulu is a must see. Add to that, the USS Arizona Memorial is at nearby Pearl Harbor.

Whether you’re visiting the famous Space Needle or hopping onto a boat to see if you can spot killer whales, you can find some amazing sights in Seattle.

  • Domestic destination #1: Orlando, Florida

It’s the central hub for the state of Florida, and home to many of the top theme parks. The Walt Disney World parks are celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the resort. Universal Studios, SeaWorld and Legoland are also nearby. Shopping on International Drive, visiting ‘The Wheel at ICON Park’ or wandering to Celebration’s downtown district (an amazing place for July 4th) are also fun ways to enjoy the Orlando area.
