Al Roker and Willard Scott appear on NBC's "Today" at Rockefeller Center on July 14, 2009 in New York City.

Al Roker shared the sad news today that longtime Today Show weatherman Willard Scott has died. He was 87. Scott spent 65 years with NBC. Roker said that Scott “was truly my second dad and am where I am today because of his generous spirit. Willard was a man of his times, the ultimate broadcaster. There will never be anyone quite like him.” Roker said in his tweet this morning that Willard passed peacefully surrounded by family members.
