Viral Video of Vehicle in Tampa Falling Into A Sinkhole… Is Not A Sinkhole
There was lots of buzz around Tampa Bay tonight after a video was posted to social media and Reddit showing a vehicle falling into what looks like a sinkhole. (And here’s another view someone else posted.)
Here’s the thing. It’s not a sinkhole. It was the result of a vehicle crashing into a fire hydrant, according to Channel 8. The water leak got so bad they asked drivers were asked to avoid the area.
This happened at the corner of E. Henderson Avenue and W. Estrella Street in Tampa. A depression has formed and passersby took some video with their phone and posted to social media assuming it was a sinkhole. Some lanes will remain closed for a few days while they make repairs. [Source: Channel 8]
