VIDEO: Florida Highway Patrol Uses PIT Maneuver On Howard Frankland Bridge
A chase taking place on a bridge over Tampa Bay ended when FHP took control of the situation.
According to Fox 13 News, Florida Highway Patrol was able to track down a stolen car using the vehicle’s GPS. When FHP officers attempted a traffic stop, a chase began in rush hour traffic. The Nissan Altima continued weaving its way across the bridge.
With speeds exceeding 100 mph, FHP was able to take control of the situation. The fleeing driver took the car near the right shoulder, part of the bridge’s construction zone. The chasing vehicle used a PIT maneuver, spinning the Nissan to a stop in traffic. Other FHP vehicles quickly cornered the car and the driver was taken into custody.
