Keanu Reeves Inspired the Name of a New ‘Extremely Deadly’ Fungicide
Keanu Reeves knows how to play it cool and keep it funny. Over the weekend, he took part in an AMA Reddit session. One question in particular yielded some interesting information.

One person asked the actor what his thoughts were of researchers from Germany discovering a compound that is so effective at killing fungi, they named it after him. The compound is called “keanumycins.” A Redditor noted that the “lipopeptides kill so efficiently that we named them after Keanu Reeves because he, too, is extremely deadly in his roles.”
Reeves wrote in response via the Lionsgate account, “…Hi, thank you…they should’ve called it John Wick…but that’s pretty cool…and surreal for me. But thanks, scientist people! Good luck, and thank you for helping us.”
Per Phys.org, Sebastian Götze, the study’s lead author, is optimistic that keanumycins will be able to destroy fungus in crops and fungal infections in people.
Other questions the actor was asked include: “When will you do a hot ones interview?” Though Reeves proclaims that he loves chicken wings, “I don’t want to eat really spicy chicken wings…especially not in public…and certainly not with the consequences in private. Bon apetit.”
In response to being asked, “What drives you to be so compassionate?” Keanu has such a pure response: “…we die…and we all need all the help we can get.”
Keanu will next be seen in the fourth installment of the John Wick film series. The film is out in theaters on March 24. As we previously reported, John Wick uncovers a path to defeating The High Table. But before he can earn his freedom, Wick must face off against a new enemy with powerful alliances across the globe. When one Redditor asked Reeves what his favorite movies he’s starred in, the actor listed all of our favorites after exclaiming, “Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!
