Looking to start a new Christmas day tradition? We have 7 Tampa Bay area activities for the whole family to do on Christmas Day. It’s likely to be a beautiful day in Tampa Bay, with the temperatures expected to drop the week before Christmas, it’s likely that the day of will be sunny and cool with temps in the (possible) 60’s.  While people who live up north are busy shoveling snow, we can enjoy so many outdoor activities with gorgeous weather on Christmas Day.

Of course, the first thing that most families do Christmas morning is tear open those presents under the tree. If that’s the first thing you do in the morning, spend the rest of your day trying out one of these activities. Some are very popular for a lot of families on Christmas Day, so we may recommend getting there early to beat the crowds. A few of these activities are even free or cost-effective for those who spent too much on presents. Here are 7 activities to do in the Tampa Bay area with the family on Christmas Day.

  • Christmas Beach Day

    One of things to be most grateful for in Tampa Bay is the gorgeous weather. With temperatures expected to drop next week that means Christmas Day can be expected to be beautiful and sunny! Nothing sounds better than a Christmas beach day! You can head to the Dunedin Causeway and have a free beach day, or pay for parking at one of the bay’s best beaches.

  • Busch Gardens

    A lot of people expect the Tampa theme park to be closed for the holiday, but in fact it’s one of the busiest days of the year at the park. We recommend you get there early to avoid crowds. Maybe you were gifted an annual pass for Christmas and want to check out Christmas Town while you still can. (Tip, stay for the fireworks!)

     

  • Tampa Riverwalk/Curtis Hixon

    If you’re looking for another free activity to do with the family on Christmas day, take a walk/bike ride on the Tampa Riverwalk! Or if you’d like, head over to the Winter Village at Curtis Hixon Park. The ice skating rink and more is open on Christmas day, tickets for all ages are $17.

  • See A Movie

    Going to the movies is a big activities on Christmas Day for a lot of families. Instead of staying inside and streaming Netflix all day, go out with the fam and see a new movie that’s only in theaters.

  • United Skates Tampa

    United Skates in Tampa is hosting a Christmas skate from 5p-8p! Tickets are $14 if you need rentals and $11 if you have your own skates. Check out their Facebook page for more info.

  • Enchant St. Petersburg

    One of the best holiday activities is open on Christmas day. Enjoy just the right amount of festive fun on the best day to go!

  • Kayak Tour

    River Wild Kayaking is open on Christmas day for multiple tour times of the Anclote River in Tarpon Springs. You’ll start just a walking distance away from the historic Sponge Docks and wind through the mangroves. Click here for more info…

    If you have your own kayak/paddleboard, you won’t have to pay for any tour! Just head out on the bay and soak up the sun.
