The fourth of July is right around the corner and we’re ready for all the hot dogs, fruit salad and fun in the sun. If you’re looking for ways to spice up your July 4th celebration, we created a list of fourth of July events happening around Tampa to help you plan your day.

We know the main attraction when it comes to the Fourth of July is fireworks, but what do you do all day while waiting for the main event? Some people throw BBQ’s at their house or head to the beach, but did you know about these Fourth of July celebration events happening around Tampa Bay?

There are endless firework displays happening around Tampa Bay, but how do you celebrate if you’re not into big crowds or loud bangs from fireworks? Many firework shows have pre-party festivities but we narrowed down our list to only include pre-firework events. Maybe you already have your spot planned out but don’t know how to kill time before the big show, this list will be perfect for you. If you already know you firework viewing destination, do some more research on the event to see if they are including any parades, live concerts, or kid zones!

Here Are 6 4th of July events in Tampa Bay That’s NOT A Firework Show

  • Hot Dog Eating Contest

    I can’t think of anything more American than a hot dog eating contest. Armature Works in Tampa is hosting a limited competition starting at 6:30 p.m.. Spots are first come first serve, so if you want to show off your glizzy eating skills, be sure to get there early! The winner will take home the championship title which includes a $500 gift card, the championship belt, as well as bragging rights. Second and third place winners will each take home $100 Gift Cards and all competitors receive a branded T-shirt.

  • July 4th Boat Parade

    It’s not like a championship boat parade but it’s the next best thing! The parade route will be similar to our holiday light boat parade but will include a Water Ski Show to kick off the celebration and a blessing station. Boats will be decorated in red, white and blue and compete for the most patriotic boat!

    Water Ski Show – 6 PM (lasts 45 minutes)
    Boat Parade Arrival at Sparkman Wharf – 7:30 PM
    Blessing of the Fleet will occur when boats cross finish line at Sparkman Wharf

  • Catch the Spirit & Celebrate America July 4th Festival

    Get ready for an unforgettable day filled with fantastic food, exciting activities, engaging contests and live entertainment, culminating in a breathtaking patriotic drone show after sunset. Fun events include kids’ zone, pet parade, beer tents, food & craft vendors, antique car show & more.
    Admission is free; Parking is $10/car.

  • Tarpon Springs Annual Fourth of July Picnic

    Happening at Craig Park, (100 Library Ln, Tarpon Springs, FL 34689) from 10a-1p. Enjoy food, activities, games, music, water slides and food.

  • Red White and Bluey 4th of July Skate at Skate World Tampa

    Bluey is joining Skate World for a special 4th of July celebration skate! There will be games, a special (indoor safe) 4th of July celebration, and special meet and greets with Bluey! Admission is $11 and skate rentals are $5.

  • Lutz Fourth of July Celebration and Parade

    Kick of your July 4th morning with a one-mile fun run followed by a Flag Ceremony with Boy Scout Troop 12 and Civil Air Patrol. The parade begins at 10:00 with a cake auction fundraiser at the Lutz Civic Center just after the parade ends.  (101 W. Lutz Lake Fern Rd., Lutz)
