Here is a list of Florida athletes competing in the 2022 Winter Olympics.
You may think there aren’t any athletes hailing from Florida in the Olympics this winter, however these select few play winter sports and will represent the sunshine state in China.
We have two speedskaters, two bobsledders and a sled hockey athlete competing in the Paralympics. In fact, the sled hockey athlete has ties to the Tampa Bay Lightning! Two of the athletes are also from Ocala!
You can tune in to see Team USA compete at the 2022 Winter Olympics in China on the networks of NBC. Coverage begins February 2nd. Many of the events will happen live while many of us in the US are still sleeping, so the events will be covered live as well as in primetime coverage. The same goes for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
The Opening Ceremonies will be shown in the states on Friday, February 4th starting at 8p ET on NBC.
The Closing Ceremonies will happen on February 20th.
The very first Winter Olympic Games were held in January and February of 1924. More than 250 athletes from 16 nations descended upon Chamonix, France to compete in 16 events in five sports. Today, Norway is the country with the most Winter Olympics medals with a tally of 368, 132 of them being gold medals.
GO TEAM USA!
