Addiction to Fortnite Is Forcing Kids Into Rehab for Addiction to Video Games
With more than 200 million people registered for the game Fortnite, there is no question that the video game is immensely popular.
But with massive popularity comes some negative side effects. One of these being video game addiction.
There are some parents that have sent their children to rehab over their addiction to the Epic Games Inc. creation.
“This game is like heroin,” says British behavioral specialist Lorrine Marer. “Once you are hooked, it’s hard to get unhooked.”
Kids are not alone when it comes to video game addiction. There have been hundreds of divorces that site Fortnite as the cause.
Addiction to video games began back with the Atari console, but unlike its predecessor, Fortnite is more easily accessible today with social media and smartphones.
Earlier this year, the World Health Organization said that “gaming disorder” is a disease.
