Starting today Hillsborough County is launching a traffic safety campaign, focusing on three major Tampa Bay roadways. So, you may want this post to serve as your friendly warning to be extra careful as you travel to and from home.

According to Fox 13, Deputies – along with the Florida Department of Transportation and the University of South Florida, plan to crack down on some specific locations after nearly two-dozen people have been killed.

However, this warning is not just for the motorist. Deputies point out that pedestrians and bicyclists are also creating dangerous situations in these areas and will be a focus for law enforcement as well.

So, if you live or travel in any of these areas, you may want to be extra careful the next few months as Deputies clamp down on the situation:

  • Hillsborough Avenue between Himes Avenue and George Road
  • Fowler Avenue between Nebraska Avenue and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard
  • Busch Boulevard between Dale Mabry Highway and Nebraska Avenue.
Hillsborough officials say that in the past five years there have been 23 fatalities in those areas. So, keep your eyes open, and slow down! For the safety of everyone.
