Tampa Bay Has Dumped Almost 400,000 Gallons Of Poop Into Waterways This Year
As a Tampa Bay resident that likes to fish and boat and go to the beach, this year has been horrible. Toxic algae blooms, red tide, and now this report from the Florida Department Of Environmental Protection with terrible news.
So far in 2019, Tampa Bay has spilled or leaked 6.5 times more sewage than last year and it’s only August. Four Tampa Bay counties including Hillsborough, Pinellas, Manatee and Pasco have dumped 389,000 gallons of sewage into our local waterways, some cleaned up and the rest left behind. For perspective, in 2018, those same four counties spilled 59,560 gallons of which over 39,000 was lost.
