ABC Action News reports that police are searching for the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit and run of a bicyclist in St. Petersburg.

According to the report, the accident occurred on November 1st. on the Pinellas Trail. The vehicle is a white Chevrolet sedan. In the video below, you will see the car striking the bicyclist as he was crossing 49th St. on the Pinellas Trail (in the 600 block of 49th. St. S.). You may also notice that the bicyclist (Steven Weldon) does not obey the red stop sign for him as he approaches traffic, and prior to getting hit. He even throws his arms in the air, as if to say, “Hey, I’m ridin’ here!”

What is one of the most shocking things about this story is that police say the driver of the car actually stopped to move the bicyclist and the bike out of the roadway, before jumping back into his car and driving off. That makes it hit-and-run.

The victim, Steven Weldon said..

“I think he panicked at first and then when the fear set in that’s what made him leave,”

Weldon suffered broken bones but thankfully, his injuries are not life-threatening. View the ABC28 video below…
