Getty Royalty FreeJust when we thought things couldn't get any worse for rent in Tampa Bay, one Apartments.com listing popped up on our radar. If you ever wanted to live in a rundown shack, this is your chance. This is easily the worst rental deal we have ever seen.
For the sweet price of $725, you can rent this 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom house in Tampa. Don't worry, the application process is “quick and easy”. We originally found this on the Tampa Reddit page, but has since been deleted.
The listing goes on to offer a move-in special of $1800 to move in Today. Not that we think you should apply, but the application is $78, and the owners “LOVE pets!” The home is located at 908 E Bougainvillea Ave in Tampa.
What Does The House Look Like?
I mean, if you’re looking for something cheap, I can understand the appeal. But, the house also looks like it might be part of a deleted scene from Eraserhead or Tyler Durden's latest hangout spot.
For starters, the outside of the house has boarded-up windows and doors. One side of the house is covered in painted plywood. The same listing on Trulia.com looks to be updated and have added a door instead of boards for the exterior.
The house is 764 square feet. Inside the home, the walls look like they’re barely hanging on and have some stories to tell. There are gaps between the panels that look like they might ooze. On the other hand, the yard looks solid. Plenty of room for the dogs to run around out back.
Prices Of Houses To Rent in Tampa Are Out Of Control
We knew rent in Tampa has gotten bad, but is this for real? This seems like a classic Punk'd moment, but no, this is real. This Apartments.com listing made waves on the r/Tampa Reddit thread with the caption, "Found this while searching for a rental, this cr*ck house should be condemned by the city”
A few weeks ago, we talked about how Tampa was one of the cities with the fastest-growing home prices in Tampa Bay. Home prices rose 4.8% in one year and over the past 5 years, prices have seen a 74.1% increase. This house is the prime example of what the housing and renting market has come to. The house seems to be updated on Zillow and sold for $150k+. According to Zillow, this house had an estimated value of $25,000 in 2014.
One user commented on the post saying, "This is what's become of the Tampa real-estate market? Generations are now priced out of ever owning a home."
This type of rental property shouldn't even hit the available listings, but we don't make the rules. Let us know your thoughts on social media about this house for rent in Tampa.

People are paying anywhere from $600 a month for car notes for cars that are not even luxury. I think I will hold off until the prices go down. Everything around us has seemed to go up except our paychecks right? lol
