Tampa International Airport To Build New Airside
Tampa International Airport (TPA) has shared some cool new details on its upcoming terminal, taking a big step in the airport’s ongoing expansion and keeping it up to date. The new terminal, set to be a big part of TPA’s future growth, is made to heighten the passenger experience, increase traveler numbers, and keep TPA’s status as one of the best airports in the nation.
The terminal will feature top of the line amenities centered around improving the convenience and comfort for passengers. It is the newest airside TPA has put together in 20 years and is coming just in time as the airport is adjusting to the growth happening in Tampa Bay. TPA has stated that they take on 25 million passengers a year and look to up that number an extra 10 million in the next 10 years. Among some of the highlights for the new airside are expanded security checkpoints, which will streamline the screening process and reduce wait times. The terminal will also have a diverse range of dining and retail options, that will feature local brands, making sure travelers can catch a vibe of what Tampa is all about before they take off.
In terms of design, the new terminal will be 600,000 sq ft. and will have two floors. Airside D will have two lounges, 16 gates and a shuttle. The new layout, along with some advanced technology, will create an awesome new travel experience, for flights around the country and outside the country. To build this new addition, it will cost a whopping $1.5 billion.
Construction on the terminal will be starting soon, with completion expected within the next few years, with 2028 the target year.
