Did Jon Bon Jovi Save A Woman From Jumping Off A Bridge?
Did Jon Bon Jovi save a woman from jumping off a bridge? It sounds like it! What can’t he do?
He’s one of the biggest rock stars in the world. He can also act. Now, he saves lives? It’s good to be him.
Jon Bon Jovi Saves Woman From Jumping Off A Bridge
Having to talk someone down off a bridge would be one of the scariest things ever. You never expected it, but now their life is in your hands in a way. If you find yourself in that position, it’s good to have a way with words. That’s something Jon Bon Jovi has proven he can do well over the years. Now, he’s taking his skills as a wordsmith away from lyrics and into helping save a woman from jumping off a bridge.
According to TMZ, the “Livin’ On A Prayer” singer was filming a music video for his song “People’s House” on the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge in Nashville when he noticed a woman in need of help. It looks like she was getting ready to jump off the famous bridge but then Jon Bon Jovi approached her and convinced her not to end her life. It’s a bold decision to try because you’d feel guilty if it didn’t go as planned, but good on him!
Actually, it sounds like helping people is kind of his thing. I never knew how much he did for others until now. TMZ reports that Bon Jovi often deals with people in a crisis from hunger to homelessness and does a lot with his JBJ SOUL FOUNDATION. He even helped her over the railing, like a gentleman. Nashville PD Chief John Drake applauded the singer for taking action.
It remains unclear what he said to the woman, but clearly it worked. He was there at the right time and was the right person to help. You can see the viral video below.
Pretty incredible! It looks like he chose the right spot and the right time to film that music video. Who knows how that would have ended if Jon and the crew weren’t around to witness the situation and make the choice to step in. It could have been very easy to sit there and watch it unfold hoping she doesn’t jump. Instead, they took action and most likely saved a life in doing so. Hopefully the woman finds the help she needs.
50 Best Power Ballads of All Time
Power ballads: They’re some of music’s most powerful expressions. While their popularity exploded in the ‘80s, they can be found in multiple decades, as is evident in our list.
According to Cambridge University Press’ academic journal Popular Music, “The power ballad has become a mainstay of popular music since the 1970s…The songs are defined by the use of both a musical formula based on constant escalation and an expressive formula that combines the euphoric uplift created by rousing music with sentimental themes and ploys.”
The journal further notes that power ballads aren’t exclusively rock songs. In fact, many songs from the 1970s that are considered power ballads fall under the pop genre. In the 1960s, many songs considered power ballads had more R&B elements to them.
However, the grand nature of the power ballad lent itself well to the rock music of the 1980s. During that time, everything was “bigger,” and we aren’t just talking about hair and shoulder pads. Personalities seemed bigger. The stakes for fame seemed bigger. There was a kind of boldness that was only of that time.
With all of this in mind, our list of the 50 Best Power Ballads below might include some surprising songs. However, it will also include entries you’d expect to see on this list.
There is one other parameter that was set for this list: Bands/artists will only be represented by one song to provide for a fun variety. However, solo tracks and band recordings count as two separate entries. This means certain musicians might show up more than once on this list. (Spoiler: We’re looking at you Jon Bon Jovi! And really, how could we not look at JBJ, am I right?!)
