Over our break, Doug and I took a trip to New York City to see the premiere of The Captain at the Tribeca Film Festival. It was a total whirlwind trip. We were only in the city for 12 hours (including sleeping time). We would have been there a little longer, but our flight out of Tampa was delayed by 4 hours. Welcome to 2022 Summer Travel.
We arrived at the theater just before show time and sat down to watch Episode One. There will be a total of seven episodes, and the first will air on ESPN on July 18th.
Director of the documentary, Randy Wilkins, said that he wanted to tell the story of an American cultural icon in a way where everyone would relate to it and that he would essentially be telling us a story about ourselves. Even though Derek’s is a one-of-a-kind story of stratospheric success, at its core, it is about someone who has big dreams and doesn’t let anything deter him and who accomplishes things with love and support from family. And I think that’s what most of us are trying to do on this earth. Chase some dreams and support our loved ones in their pursuits.
Here are some photos of the adventure.
