The Q105 Saturday Night Dance Party!

A night of your favorite Q105 Saturday Night Dance Party Legends! Stevie B and Lisa Lisa headline a night of fun throwback jams. Others on the lineup this year include Expose (“Come Go With Me”, “Point of No Return”), K7 (“Come Baby Come”), TKA (“Maria”), George Lamond (“Bad of the Heart”), Debbie Deb (“Lookout Weekend” and “When I Hear Music”), Pretty Poison (“Catch Me I’m Falling”), Tag Team (“Whoomp! There It Is”), Montell Jordan (“This Is How We Do It”).

Friday night, Freestyle Explosion Throwback Jam will be at Amalie Arena. The lineup this year is insane! Stevie B, Lisa Lisa, Expose, TKA / K7, George Lamond, Debbie Deb, Trinere, Pretty Poison, Tag Team, Montell Jordan and the 69 Boyz will have Tampa dancing all night long. Our Q105 Saturday Night Dance Party Crew has picked the 5 songs they’re most looking forward to hearing live.

Here’s mine! And here’s the top 5 from DJ Hoof and DJ Nestor Cruz.

  • #5: Let The Beat Hit 'Em by Lisa Lisa

People often forget this one by Lisa since her 80s hits were so huge. I love “Head to Toe” and “Lost In Emotion,” but this 90s jam of hers is my favorite. It was one of the first songs I got to play on the radio. Lisa still keeps the party jumpin’. But I can’t wait to hear her iconic ballad “All Cried Out” either.

  • #4: Come Baby Come by K7

Imagine my embarrassment when I realized that K7 is K7 from TKA. The sad thing is this was just a few years ago! I never knew that the same guy behind TKA’s “Maria” was the same guy who did this one. They’re so different. I got to see K7 with TKA in Daytona for my birthday show on Memorial Day Weekend. When they did this song, I lost it. You can see the evidence on my Instagram.

  • #3: This Is How We Do It by Montell Jordan

This was an essential jam at any party I went to back when I went to college in Boston in the mid 90s. I’m going to go nuts when Montell does it at Throwback Jam. I know every damn word to this song and you will see me make a total fool of myself dancing if you look to the side of the stage. Please don’t post it to YouTube.

  • #2: Because I Love You by Stevie B

I know for most it’s usually “Spring Love,” “I Wanna Be The One,” or “Party Your Body” most are looking forward to. But this Stevie song was a #1 too… and where I grew up, this was the only real exposure I had to Stevie. I remember playing it on my first radio station I worked for (Thunder 107) in my hometown of Portland, Maine. I later grew to love Stevie’s dance jams, but this one was my first Stevie song and it stands out in concert since it changes the pace of the concert for a few minutes.

  • #1: Tootsie Roll by 69 Boyz

I just can’t wait to hear this one live. Whenever someone requests it on the show, I almost blow out the studio speakers. It’s such a fun jam. Amalie Arena is going to go NUTS when the 69 Boyz bust out those first lyrics “The butterfly, uh uh, that’s old… let me see that Tootsie Rolllll!”
