The 6 Songs Featured On “Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind”

Last Sunday, I got to take 2 rides on the new Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind rollercoaster at Epcot. To be honest, I don’t know if I’ve ever seen one of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, but I still enjoyed the ride. And you will too since you’re a Q105 listener because six Q105 Saturday Night Dance Party classics are featured.

If you’ve ridden Aerosmith’s Rockin’ Rollercoaster at Hollywood Studios, you know you’re going to hear one of the band’s classic songs as you get tossed around in the dark. The Guardians coaster has that same experience, but with a variety of songs from different artists. They’re all throwback jams you hear us play on Saturday night… thus the name of the coaster… Cosmic Rewind. Here is the list of six songs that could play when you ride…

  • September by Earth, Wind & Fire

    This was the song that played on my first ride. It was a great pick. Very chill and the coaster is an exhilarating but smooth ride. So this song really hit for my first Guardians ride.   • Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Tears for Fears

    Tears For Fears is also on the road. In fact, they played in Tampa last night at the Amp.

  • Conga by Gloria Estefan

    Care for some Cuban flavor for you ride in the dark? The ride is fast so this song probably best fits the momentum of Cosmic Rewind.

  • One Way or Another by Blondie

    On the second of my two rides, I had this song.  I liked it.  Playing air guitar as you ride a rollercoaster in the dark is fun.  But I think I liked “September” better.

  • I Ran (So Far Away) by A Flock of Seagulls

    If I was allowed to choose the song to ride to, it would have probably been this one. But it’s a random experience… you don’t get to pick your song like you can on coasters like Rip Ride Rockit over at Universal Orlando.

  • Disco Inferno by The Trammps

    Burn baby burn!  Perfect choice for a ride like this… all of these songs are happy fun songs you love to sing along to.  It’s why you hear them all on Q105 everyday.  Escape the world for a few minutes and just have fun.  It’s what this ride and Q105 are all about.

I loved the new ride. I don’t know if it’s my new favorite though like it is for most. The Avatar ride over at Animal Kingdom “Flight of Passage” is probably still #1 on my list. It’s just special. But Cosmic Rewind is right up there with Rise of the Resistance in my Top 3. It’s kind a mix of Rockin’ Rollercoaster from Aerosmith in terms of the nighttime ride in the dark, the multi-level modern impressive pre ride experience of Rise of the Resistance, with the rotating coaster feel of Cobra’s Curse at Busch Gardens.
