For the past two weeks, thousands of DirecTV customers have been experiencing satellite and DVR problems.
What happens is that shows recorded on a customer’s Genie DVR will suddenly disappear. A total reboot of the system’s DVR is the only way to retrieve your recorded shows. Problem is, customers are having to reboot their DVR’s two and three times per night in order to be able to watch their shows.
In a phone call to DTV’s customer service center, we were told that the issue is with a new software download that has gone haywire. DirecTV personnel are working on rewriting the system’s software but will need to BETA-test the new software in-house before it can be released to the general public.
Customer service personnel on their telephone help lines are very non-committal as to when the issue will be resolved. It appears that this DirecTV issue even has them baffled!
