The recording made in 1963 features Bowie on lead vocals, attributed to his given name David Jones.
English auction house Omega Auctions expected to fetch £10,000 for the demo tape of "I Never Dreamed" on Tuesday, but it sold for four times that price.
Bowie left The Konrads shortly after making the tape and broke out as a solo artist.
