Funeral Home Loses Body & Puts Wrong One in Casket
When the family of Norma Newman approached her casket to say goodbye, a number of them broke down — not over the loss of their beloved relative, but because the woman in the casket was not Newman.
The shocking discovery occurred over the weekend at Roy Mizell & Kurtz Funeral Home in Fort Lauderdale. Suzette Walsh, Newman’s niece, says funeral home employees initially denied that a mix-up had occurred. “We asked them about the mole on our aunt’s face,” Walsh says. “They said that they covered it with makeup. Makeup couldn’t cover it.”
Although funeral home officials have since conceded that a mistake had been made, they’ve yet to locate Newman’s actual body.
