No NBC On DTV In Tampa… Now No CBS?
For many weeks, DirecTV customers in the Tampa Bay area have not had the luxury of watching their favorite NBC television shows. Why? DirecTV and the owners of WFLA News Channel 8 (Nexstar) are in a contract dispute.
Now CBS has announced they they too are in a dispute with DTV and their programming may cease on the satellite TV service too.
As a matter of fact, CBS owned WTOG (Channel 44) in Tampa is already off-the-air on DirecTV. CBS network programming is still available on it’s affiliate WTSP (channel 10) because WTSP is not owned by CBS. WTSP is owned by Tegna, Inc.
So, how many other broadcast entities will start disputing payments from DirecTV? And how many more stations will go black?
And what about DTV customers? Don’t they pay a handsome fee to watch the programming that was promised to them when they signed up?
Here is DirecTV’s written response on their TVPromise page.
