Lots of people decided what to buy or not buy or where to eat or not based on reviews they read online. It’s the first place we go to research a purchase or a vacation spot. Online reviews have become more important to businesses than ever before.
A Florida man in Deland Florida has been fighting a defamation lawsuit all year from an animal hospital after he posted a negative review about his dog’s care while at the hospital. They ended up settling the lawsuit.
To win a defamation lawsuit, the plaintiff would have to prove that you made a false statement about them, the kind of statement that would hurt their business.
Going forward, when you are about to leave a negative review about a business or a place, take pictures and choose your words carefully in your review making sure you’re not just venting….because now you know you can get sued.
