When word broke that Guthrie's was coming to South Tampa, I got a little excited. Guthrie's was a key component of my "diet" when I lived in Tallahassee almost 20 years ago. Truth be told, Chubby's Chicken Fingers was my first pick for deep fried late night chicken cravings. But a "Gut Box" was always a good call too. A couple years ago, I stumbled upon a Winter Haven location in Polk County and chowed down. I hear they have since closed. And I also learned that this wasn't just a Tallahassee FSU phenomenon. I'm told there's also a location in Gainesville so Florida Gators are Guthrie's lovers too. I even hear Tampa had a Guthrie's back in the day. Anyway, I don't know why it took me so long but tonight after doing the drive over the Gandy on the way to the Lightning game, I found the new Guthrie's shop set up on Dale Mabry. Instead of writing a detailed review, I think the next to the last photo will give you my verdict.
