Pasco Man Confesses To Purposely Running Over Military Veteran
According to ABC Action News, Pasco County Sheriff’s have arrested a man they say admitted to intentionally running a down a military veteran on the highway.
Pasco County officials say the incident happened at Old Dixie Hwy and Aripeka Road in Pasco County on Thursday January 9th. The suspect is 21 year-old Justyn Pennell.
Police say Pennell was out on errands in his PT Cruiser around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday when he saw a pedestrian walking alone on the side of the road. Sheriff Chris Nocco reports that Pennell first drove past the pedestrian, but then made a U-turn and intentionally drove his car straight towards the victim.
The report states that Nocco admitted that he accelerated to a high rate of speed and intentionally struck the 75-year-old Army veteran.
ABC28 reports that in later police interviews, Pennell told investigators he had been planning to kill someone for several months, and that he, “Could see the fear on the victim’s face…” as he sped his car towards the veteran.
Sheriff Nocco noted that Pennell remained very calm during the confession and did not appear to be under the influence. Nocco said…
“This is one of those things that when you talk to society about how evil things are…. this man is absolutely evil.”
The victim’s name has not been released at this time. Pennell was arrested and charged with premeditated murder.
