Florida Woman Found Unconscious With Note That Read ‘Just Cremate Me’
This is a crazy story! A 43 year-old Florida woman was found in her home with a note that read “Just cremate me.” Police believe she is connected to a fatal stabbing that happened earlier in the month.
On November 21, police were called to do a welfare check on Eugenia Bright after she didn’t show up for work. When police pulled up to her home, they found Bright fading in and out of consciousness next to a bottle of pills and a note. When questioned, the Florida woman told detectives she took 12 pills and tried to kill herself. Bright was brought to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where they gave her Narcan to treat an overdose. Police found an 8-10 inch kitchen knife on a dresser along with a note from Bright. The note read:
“I do not want a funeral!!!! Just cremate me! Do not take my body to [redacted]. Just find someone that will do a cremation!” The note also asks to notify two women about her death.
Authorities stated that when they found Bright, her clothes were covered in blood, but there were no signs of defensive wounds. Police did find an alleged crime scene in the bathroom that they connect to a fatal stabbing a few weeks ago. There was blood splattered on the sink and the walls. News Channel 8 reports that a witness recalls screaming from inside the apartment around the time of the murder. Marsy’s law has prevented the identity of the victim.
Police went back to the hospital to question Bright but she didn’t have much to say. Bright invoked her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. Although the victims death remains under investigation, police ended up charging Bright with second-degree murder. She is currently being held at the Sarasota County Jail without bond.
