The study actually comes from New York Travel Guides. They compared those 600 small towns in a few different categories. Those are romantic places to stay, romantic activities in the town, and historic architecture and scenery. Additionally, they looked at coffee shops and restaurants as well
The Florida small town that it was named as one of the most romantic in America is St. Augustine. St. Augustine actually came in as the third most romantic in the entire United States. Firstly, St. Augustine ranked high in romantic places to stay. Additionally, it ranked extremely high on historic architecture and scenery. Finally, they rank high for coffee, shops, and restaurants as well. Additionally, only two other Florida cities are in the Top 100. Palm Beach came in #14 on the list and Fernandina Beach is #58.

History Of St. Augustine
St. Augustine was founded in 1565 by Spanish Explorers and is the oldest continuously inhabited European establishment settlement in the United States. Spanish Admiral Pedro Menendez de Aviles was found at St. Augustine. He also became Florida’s first governor. The city is located about 40 miles south of downtown Jacksonville.
