Love someone? Show them how special they are by preparing a delicious French Toast sandwich for Valentine’s Day. My daughter and I got to it after being inspired by Macy Bakes’ French Toast Sandwich recipe in Love & Comfort Food. A French toast sandwich is much like a Monte Cristo but prettier and even more decadent.

Here’s what you need to make 4 sandwiches:

~1/2 Cup Whole Milk
~4 Eggs
~1/2 tsp Salt
~1/2 tsp Ground Nutmeg
~8 Slices Brioche Bread
~4 Slices Black Forest Ham
~4 Slices Honey Smoked Turkey
~8 Slices of Swiss Cheese
~4 Tbsp Raspberry Jam
~2 Tbs Butter
~Confectioners’ Sugar

• Someone is ready to get this cooking party started!

  (Don't forget to wear your tiara and princess dress while you cook.)

• Measure out 1/2 cup of whole milk.

  We are getting good at doing this without spilling.

• Add the nutmeg…

  and the 1/2 tsp of salt.
• Whisk it all together.

• Look at big girl who is allowed to crack eggs now.

  Whisk the four eggs into the mixture.

• Layer the meats, cheese and jam.

  Share

  One slick of turkey, then ham, then cheese and then a spoonful of jam. Repeat this four times.
• Hug your bread like a baby.

  Not really.

• Cut your bread into heart shapes.

  Share

  And dip it in the egg and milk mixture.

• Cook the pieces of bread on medium-high heat.

  About three minutes on each side. (We don't let her actually flip the bread.. She's just using her magical powers with the spatula. Bippety-boppety-boo!)
• Now this is the most fun part.

  Sprinkle on the sugar!
