Taylor Dayne performing onstage during Project Angel Food's Lead with Love 3 - a Fundraising Special in Los Angeles.

We’re counting down the days until Freestyle Explosion Throwback Jam returns to Amalie Arena August 5. It’s always a fun night of Q105 dance hits that will get you moving. BUT don’t forget those love songs… because the are some GEMS we’ll hear! So if you’re bringing someone special, get ready to slow it down with these bangers!

  • Taylor Dayne "Love Will Lead You Back"

Taylor Dayne’s voice is just as powerful as it was when this one debuted on Q105 in 1990. This gem written by the legendary Diane Warren and it reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Warren is said to have written the song when she was in a hotel room in Russia. She actually had Whitney Houston in mind for the song at the time. But as the story goes, Clive Davis thought Taylor would hit it out of the park… and she did.

  • Stevie B “Because I Love You”

Oh sure, we love “Spring Love” and all of Stevie’s club classics from the ’80s. But don’t forget this #1 from the ’90s! It was one of the first songs I got to play when I got on the radio in 1990. Be ready to sing along with Stevie on this one. He loves to hear the lyrics coming back to the stage when he performs “Because I Love You.”

  • Taylor Dayne "I'll Always Love You"

Taylor will no doubt have everyone dancing when she does “Prove Your Love” and “Tell It To My Heart,” but don’t forget this 1989 gem. She earned a GRAMMY nomination for this one. Fun fact about this one – the saxophone player is Billy Joe’s saxophonist Richie Cannata.
