Hotdogs should easily be considered the official food of summer. Whether you like kosher, all beef, dogs, or chicken pork combo dogs they’re all delicious.Heck recently I had a vegan, hot dog that, while it wasn’t my first choice, was pretty good.
But here’s the deal, when it comes to eating hotdogs I instantly think about grilling them at home first. A hotdog is rarely the kind of food I think about going out to a restaurant to get. Maybe because it just doesn’t seem fancy enough, unlike its distant cousin, and eternal BBQ counterpart, the hamburger. You can get a million different kinds of hamburgers almost anywhere it seems.
It takes a very special restaurant to have the nerve to crank out great hotdogs. Now I know well that some stores, pride, themselves and hotdogs and those are the ones I want to focus on.
But, when you think about it and compare hotdogs to other American dinner, comfort food, like pizza or hamburgers or even quesadillas They are not that easy to find out There. So I’ve taken it upon myself to create a list of a few places in the city of Tampa to get a great hot dog. While good excellent Powell how are you? I know there are probably several other places I’m forgetting. This is just my list, feel free to explore our great city and find some new hotdog places of your own..
There’s no longer any reason to feel homebound when you want to enjoy the official food of summer.
Mel's Hot Dogs
Mel’s Hot Dogs, Tampa, FL
Located on Busch Blvd., Mel’s is a Tampa Institution. Mel’s is located next Busch Gardens, it is the perfect place to hit up after a day at the park.
Portillo's
With Locations in Tampa and St. Pete, Portillo’s makes a great Chicago Style Dog and a great Chili Cheese Dog.
