Mother's Day: A Wash-Out?

Don't plan any Mother's Day events outdoors this weekend.

The National Weather Service is forecasting an area of low pressure to move in over the Florida peninsula beginning late Saturday. Expect showers and thunderstorms through next Thursday.

This pattern appears to be the beginning of the rainy season for the state.

The official Mother's Day outlook for West Central and Southwest Florida is calling for increasing clouds and rain chances from southeast to northwest during the day as an upper level disturbance moves out over the eastern Gulf of Mexico spreading deep moisture across the area.

Here is the forecast for the next few days:

SATURDAY: Partly Cloudy w/20% Chance Of Rain - High Temp: 88

SUNDAY: Mostly Cloudy w/60% Chance Of Rain - High Temp: 84

MONDAY: Mostly Cloudy w/60% Chance Of Rain - High Temp: 84

TUESDAY: Mostly Cloudy w/50% Chance Of Rain - High Temp: 86
