Florida Wants To Ban Towns From Banning Straws
You’ve probably heard about the various movements to ban plastic straws.
But Florida lawmakers want to ban the bans – with a bill that would prevent local municipalities from enacting their own straw bans.
The bill would suspend any straw bans for five years while the state conducts a study on their environmental impact. The anti-straw movement has picked up steam in recent years. A number of U.S. cities have enacted bans or restrictions, like requiring restaurants to only hand out straws if a customer requests one.
