Brick and mortar banks seem to be vanishing quickly around Tampa Bay. The Tampa Bay Business Journal reports two more are on the chopping block. BankUnited will be closing offices in Bradenton and Clearwater. The Clearwater branch is on Fort Harrison Avenue. The Bradenton location is on Manatee Avenue. BankUnited is the third largest bank based here in Florida behind TIAA Bank and South State Bank.
These closures are part of a trend as many choose to bank online, where fees can often be lower since they have lower operating costs. The Tampa Bay Business Journal also reports that Bank of America will close their Tampa branch on Davis Island and Wells Fargo will close the doors at branches in Lithia and Highland City.
