Police: Woman Busted After Stealing from Ocala Walmart
Police arrested a woman after she allegedly stole $380 worth of merchandise from a Walmart in Ocala last month.
Ocala Police Department says they received a call on Tuesday, February 15 from a Walmart employee after workers noticed a woman shoplifting in the store. When police arrived, witnesses said they saw 37-year-old Michelle Miles place merchandise in her purse.
Apparently, police observed surveillance video and saw that Miles removed a tag from a sweater and put it on top of her purse. According to reports, she also placed items in a bin that was in her shopping cart.
At the self checkout counter, Miles apparently asked an employee to void some items from her transaction. Reports say she also only payed for one storage bin.
Police say they found her as she was leaving the store. Apparently she told the officer that she was waiting for a check to clear in her bank account, and that she would pay for the items she stole.
However, after a search, police also found white residue inside baggies in her purse, and two-inch long blue straws.
Miles was arrested and charged with second degree petit theft, possession of amphetamine, and a misdemeanor charge for drug paraphernalia, according to MCSO.
She was booked in the Marion County Jail with a $15,000 bond.
