Life is pretty hectic, everyone seems to always be super busy.  with schedules to keep, deadlines to reach and obligations to fulfill, sometimes it feels like the cycle doesn’t stop.  Sometimes we need to take a few hours and reconnect, with ourselves and our surroundings.  For me, there are few ways to decompress more efficiently than petting a goat.  I have always loved petting zoos, Farm animals are not a part of my regular life, so any chance I get to spend a few minutes with these creatures, I take it. Here are the best 3 family friendly animal attractions in Tampa Bay.

I am the guy who always yells “Cows!!!” when they are off in a field when I am on a drive.  So with that in mind I wanted to share a few local petting zoos for you to go to see some farm animals and to go pet a goat.

1. HorsePower for Kids & Animal Sanctuary: Located in Tampa at the very top of Tampa Bay near the Pinellas County border, HorsePower for Kids & Animal Sanctuary has a wide variety of animals including horses, cows, goats, pigs, chickens, ducks, and rabbits. They even have a fun biplane for the kids

Old McMicky’s Farm: Old McMicky’s Farm,  in Odessa, is part of Camp Keystone.   Old McMicky’s farm is not just a petting zoo – it’s an educational farm/day camp teaching about farm animals and farm life. and offers a petting zoo experience Their farm includes a variety of animals such as cows, goats, pigs, ducks, rabbits, and chickens. The farm also offers pony rides, hayrides, and other fun activities.

Raprager Family Farm: Raprager Family Farm is a family owned and operated farm.  Started by Justin and Amanda Raprager, they have an interactive experience for kids and families.  They have a wide variety of animals to enjoy, including some large tortoises that have free range of the grounds.  They also have a butterfly garden, hayrides and a huge JumpZone for kids.

The best perk of getting a pass to a Tampa Bay hotel pool vs the beach is no sand! Any Floridian knows that after a beach day, your car will have sand trapped in there for months.
