Fourth Of July Travel Days To Avoid
Fireworks explode over the New York City skyline during the annual Fourth of July display.
What will travel be like around Fourth of July this year?
It’s slightly hard to predict because Independence Day falls on a Tuesday. Will people travel the weekend before? I know, for instance, that we have to work on Monday.
Worst Days to Fly
The worst travel days prior to the holiday are expected to be the Friday and Thursday before. If you’re headed home from a spot after the Fourth, the following Monday is expected to be busy.
Best Days to Fly
Fly either the Saturday before the Tuesday holiday or the Tuesday before (a full week prior). And apparently, Saturday travel is always the way to go if you want the lower cost option.
On another note, I wish we could always celebrate the Fourth on a Friday or Saturday night. I know that makes no sense because the holiday is the “4th of July.” But I always hate having to go to work the next day after fireworks keeping me up at night.

Florida City Makes List of Travelers' Nightmare Destinations
I came across a comprehensive list of the 10 worst cities to travel to because they are a traveler’s nightmare, and one of the top cities is right here in Florida…Miami.
So what’s not to like about Miami? We’ll get into it. And I have to say, right off the bat, that I travel to Miami frequently and I have my own ideas as to why this made the list.
Factors
But first, let’s explain what’s meant by “Travelers’ Nightmare Destinations”? These are places that folks travel to and NEVER want to return to again. Maybe the people who live there aren’t welcoming. Maybe the logistics are a mess. Could be that it’s too expensive. The list isn’t just withing the United States. It spans the globe.
Let me give you my take on some of the cities in the United States that made the list. I can’t add much to the discussion in regard to the international cities, like Cairo or Dubai, as I have not traveled to those destinations.
American Cities
But I can speak about San Francisco, which made the list. I used to LOVE to travel to San Fran. The hills and the ocean make it majestic and beautiful. And the food scene I experienced was amazing. But over the past five years or so, it has gone downhill. Overpriced in some spots and downtrodden in others. Retailers are moving out because of the crime and vagrants, and vacationers are traveling their less frequently.
Los Angeles also made the list. I would call that a traveler’s nightmare because it’s difficult to navigate. It’s just too darn big. Smog makes it unpleasant, and LA is VERY expensive. The traffic is a big ick.
I know why Houston is on the list. I’ve traveled their for Super Bowls and I think that you could make the argument that there’s no city in the U.S. that’s more of a pain to get around in. Whoever designed the city, the roads, the two airports…it’s like they were TRYING to make it confusing.
Miami is high on the list, and I can imagine why. You don’t exactly get friendly vibes from Miami residents. It’s not only a hustle-bustle, too-busy-to-smile New York vibe, but there’s not exactly a hospitality vibe either. Things are incredibly expensive. The highways are confusing and crowded, and Miami International Airport is literally a traveler’s nightmare.
