Visit Tampa’s Best Farmer’s Market
Tampa sure does have its fair share of unique Markets. I’m not talking about places like Publix or Winn Dixie. I mean places that focus on more unique stuff and wider variety of products. Tampa has several great Middle Eastern grocery stores. There are also a bunch of places specializing in Latin food. There are a a loth of Asian stores around town if you look around. But the greatest and most unique of all of them is the Sanwa Farmer’s Market.
Where ever you live in the Greater Tampa Bay Area, a trip to the Sanwa Farmer’s Market is worth the trip. It is truly a destination. Located at 2621 E. Hillsborough Ave. in Tampa, one trip to the the Sanwa Farmer’s Market and you will be hooked. The Sanwa Farmer’s Market is located on the Southside of Hillsbourugh Ave between Interstate 275 and Interstate 4.
They are primarily an Asian Market, but they feature Latin and European food too. Most of the brands they carry you will not see at a more traditional grocery. Everything there is available in bulk as well. This is especially helpful to the customers they have that are running restaurants. Also to cater to restaurant owners, they open in the wee hours of the morning. During the week they open at 4:00 a.m.
You will know you are at a different kind of place as soon as you pull up. There is no front door. the entrance looks more like a shipping dock that semi trucks can pull up to, than a place for you to shop. A large sign says “Open To The Public”, that’s the green light you need to check the place out and shop your head off. Once you walk in you will see well worn concrete floors and there is a very “warehouse” feel.
Produce in the back in a huge refrigerated room. If you want a tomato, no problem. If you want a case of tomatoes, no problem…. If you want 20 cases, no problem. That’s what they do at the Sanwa Farmer’s Market. They have unique items in every department. I feel this is especially true in the produce area. They have stuff from around the world. after you check out the produce, you can head to the meat section. The meat section is in its own enormous freezer area. They have huge cuts of meat with a variety in the Tampa Bay Area.
Each aisle has something I bet you’ve never seen before. That is what makes this place so cool, and such a True Tampa Bay Original!
