Study Reveals Living Wage In Florida For Singles
Florida, admittedly, has a lot of positive things going for it as well. The endless summers, the beautiful beaches and as many or as few activities as you want. But at what price? Especially for a single person.
Because goods and services cost more, the amount of money someone needs to make has to rise as well, just to get by. The Folks at GoBankingRates.com recently published a study actually giving each state an actual financial amount that a single person needs to make to have a “living Wage”.
Every state was listed. The most expensive state, Hawaii. That makes a ton of sense. Its an island chain far off in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Most goods are brought there on boat, and Land is very limited. Obviously, things are going to cost a lot more there. In the “Aloha State” you have to make $112,411 to get by.
The lowest amount of money a single person needs for a living wage is in the south. Ole’ Miss takes that place. In Mississippi a single person needs $45,906.
How about Florida? While the sunshine is free, not much else is. In Florida for a single person to be making a living wage they need to pull in $57,064. Which places Florida as the 30th most expensive state. Or the 20th least expensive state.
The Top 5 most expensive states are:
- Hawaii
- Massachusetts
- California
- New York
- Alaska
The 5 least expensive states are:
- Mississippi
- Oklahoma
- Alabama
- Arkansas
- Kentucky
