5 Main Dishes For Thanksgiving
Everyone has their own traditions and favorite foods for Thanksgiving based on their culture, family traditions, and preferences. But if we get down to basics, most thanksgiving meals have five main dishes: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, and green beans.
Here are great videos with tutorials and recipes on each dish.
Turkey
Philly Boy Jay has a great recipe for turkey and a step-by-step video on how to properly make it. For this recipe, a lot of ingredients aren’t necessary either. You’ll need a defrosted turkey, onion, green peppers, flour, oven bags, seasonings, butter, and chicken stock. Watch the video below.
Stuffing
There are a lot of ways to make stuffing from scratch. I Heart Recipes has a great of making the dish using cornbread as the main ingredient. Watch the step-by-step video with instructions below.
Mashed Potatoes
Mashed Potatoes are a must for Thanksgiving, but it is one of those dishes that can be difficult to make. Tasty has a lot of different versions of mashed potatoes on their website. Check out one of them making creamy mashed potatoes below.
Gravy
There are a lot of different ways to make gravy. Philly Boy Jay’s recipe above on how to make turkey has a version at the 12:50 mark. It involves using the turkey neck, liver, heart, and gizzards.
Todds’ Kitchen also has another, more straightforward way of making gravy that only requires using water, beef or chicken stock cubes, Worcestershire sauce, cornflour, and milk. Check out that version below.
Green Beans
Sure, green beans are a simple dish that can be made in minutes. This version by Anita Cooks shows a great, easy way to spruce them up using garlic, butter, seasonings, and olive oil. Check it out below.
Bonus dish: Pumpkin pie
The five main dishes are great, but Thanksgiving isn’t Thanksgiving without pumpkin pie. Check out this version by Food Wishes below.
