Sarasota Teacher Arrested
ABC Action News is reporting that according to police records, a Sarasota middle school teacher has been arrested after he inappropriately touched students.
ABC28 says that the Sarasota Police Department was called to a school on September 6th. for a follow-up on a case of a teacher, 34-year-old Maxwell Guss, who had allegedly, inappropriately touched two students.
Police report that when they interviewed Guss, they were notified of another incident (from 2017) where a student had made a complaint against him for inappropriate touching, (when he was a teacher at Sarasota High School).
Guss explained that on that particular year he was brought into a meeting that included the assistant principal. In October of this year, the same assistant principal was interviewed, and admitted she vaguely remembered a written complaint and meeting with the mother of a student, but could not find the file.
The student who filed the first complaint was brought back in for another interview. That student described Guss as being very “creepy” and said he made all the girls in the class feel uncomfortable. That student was 14 years old at the time of the alleged incidents.
Police say that incident in 2017 had never been reported to law enforcement.
