Florida State NFL Draft Prospects: Where They Might Land
With good reason, much of the college football talk around Florida State has been with an angst-ridden tone about missing the playoffs. Still, the Seminoles have a high-profile Orange Bowl game coming up against the defending two-time champion in Georgia (who also was not selected). In addition, not to be lost in the shuffle, the team has some special players, and here we will speculate on where some Florida State draft prospects will go.
As we turn the calendars to 2024, the draft discussion will only heat up. Mock drafts will continue to appear, more players will declare themselves eligible, and the combine will take place. All of this changes the order in which analysts project who will be drafted and where.
During a time of disappointment for the Florida Seminoles, let’s attempt to focus on the bright future for some of their draft prospects.
Keon Coleman – WR
CBS Sports has Keon Coleman as the 15th-ranked prospect in the entire draft, and the third wide receiver overall. This draft is deep at the position. Marvin Harrison Jr. is the top name who is expected to be picked very early. At six foot four, 215 pounds Coleman is a bigger-body receiver. He’d be an asset at any time. However, teams like the New York Giants, Tennessee Titans and New England Patriots are in genuine need for pass-catchers. Nonetheless, it is the Los Angeles Charges that we will go with here, picking Coleman in the mid-first round. Alongside Keenan Allen, Coleman can make an immediate impact, providing another big-play threat for Justin Herbert.
Jared Verse – Edge
Verse and Coleman have a lot in common. Like Coleman, Verse is also a six-foot four junior. Furthermore, he is the second Seminole expected to be picked in the first round. CBS Sports has Verse as the ninth best overall prospect, and second edge rusher off the board. Realistically, Verse (pre-combine) should be in discussion for all teams that are drafting mid-first round. The Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals, and Atlanta Falcons are teams where Verse would be a great addition to the defensive line. Nonetheless, Verse seems like a Pete Carrol guy. Therefore, here the Seahawks recognize the NFC west is about slowing down the opposing quarterback, and draft Verse.
