Tropical Storm Emily Has Formed Off Florida’s West Coast
Tropical Depression 6 has been upgraded to Tropical Storm Emily.
As of 8:00 a.m., Tropical Depression 6 has become better organized and was upgraded to Tropical Storm Emily. Winds associated with this system are 45 mph and it is moving east at 8 mph. The center of the storm was approximately 45 miles west-southwest of Tampa.
The system will still bring plenty of rain ashore. If you need sandbags, here are some locations to pick them up.
- Bobby Hicks Pool, 4201 W. Mango Ave. in Tampa.
- Barksdale Active Adult Center at MacFarlane Park, 1801 N. Lincoln Ave. in Tampa.
- Jackson Heights Community Center Playground, 3310 E. Lake Ave. in Tampa.
There is a 10 bag limit.
In Pinellas County, you can pick up sandbags at 6151 78th Ave. N.
