Tropical Storm Forming In The Gulf
The National Hurricane Center in Miami says there is a 50% chance of a tropical storm forming in the Gulf Of Mexico in the next 72 hours.
Hurricane season doesn’t officially begin until June 1st. But Mother Nature seems to be anxious to get things started, storm-wise.
The area of interest in the Gulf right now is located off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula. There is also an area of low pressure to our north that has been dragging tropical moisture up from this area of concern to our south. So, if the storm does form, we could see it’s flow and movement track right toward the state of Florida.
The formation of this preseason storm is a good reminder for all of us to start preparing for the next six months as hurricane season lasts through November 30th.
