I-275 Makes U.S. Top 10 List Of Highways That Should Be Torn Down
May 10, 2019 Update!
Remember this crazy story? Apparently, many don’t think it’s such a crazy idea after all. This week, the Hillsborough County Metropolitan Planning Organization has voted UNANIMOUSLY to do a study on it, according to Creative Loafing.

And they’re not joking. While many of us spend way too much time stuck in traffic crawling through Tampa and St. Pete on 275, there’s one group that says it should be done away with!
Freeways Without Futures 2019 says 275 is one of the highways that “pollutes the city, divides neighborhoods and occupies valuable land that could be used for homes and businesses.” They say our lives in Tampa Bay would be BETTER if 275 was gone altogether and that Tampa hasn’t recovered from the damage done since it opened in the 1960s.
Congress for New Urbanism argues that turning 275 into a typical boulevard is a better option than spending nearly $10 billion to rebuild it. Where are you on this one? Tweet @Q105Geno and I’ll include your comments below the poll.
Agreed... I like to be open minded, but this seems absurd.

Actually I'd think environmentalists would be way against this... people would spend so much more time behind the wheel.
