Puss Caterpillar Season Is Back In Tampa Bay
They call it the “most toxic caterpillar in the United States” and one Q105 listener tells us she’s already spotted 3 in her backyard. Just another pleasant little part of life in Florida. They look cute and fuzzy, but they’re far from friendly. A USF scientist says a sting from a Puss Caterpillar feels like “being stabbed with a hot burning knife.” Watch the video so you can get a good idea of what these little nightmares look like. Just like our other favorite nuisance, the love bug, puss caterpillars tend to pop up in spring and then again in fall. You’ll usually see them in trees, but they often fall off them and if you under it, look out! They say the pain is way worse than a bee sting.
