Palm Harbor Teen Bicyclist Is Victim Of Dunedin Hit And Run
IONTB, reports that Pinellas County investigators say a serious hit and run crash involving a vehicle versus a bicyclist occurred yesterday (Monday, December 16) at approximately 5:52 p.m., in Dunedin.
Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team say witnesses report that the vehicle did not stop or appear to take any action at all to avoid the crash.
The victim is 16-year-old Ibrahim Paul of Palm Harbor. He was crossing County Road 1 on his bicycle, eastbound from Country Woods Lane, when he was struck by the vehicle.
The victim was not wearing a bicycle helmet, there were no lights on the bicycle, and he was not within a crosswalk at the time of the crash. It is unknown if the driver of the vehicle knew they were involved in a crash.
Investigators say witnesses described the vehicle in question as a black Jeep Wrangler, with a dark colored, soft top. The Jeep was traveling southbound on County Road 1.
The victim was transported via Bayflight to St. Joseph’s Hospital. Deputies are calling his injuries “serious, but non-life threatening”.
